{{UPE|date=March 2019}}Wes Period is an American artist, rapper, and producer from La Habra, California.[1][2][3] and began his career working with artists such as Ye Ali and Tommy Genesis.[1][3] In 2017, Period was discovered by songwriter Justin Tranter via an Instagram Stories post.[4][3] He’s currently signed to Interscope Records.[5]

Career

Period released his debut EP Friendly Fire in 2011.[6][7] The EP was followed up with another EP, Photosynthesis, in 2015 [8] which is now only available via YouTube.[9] The EP included the single “Champaign Champion”.[8] That same year, Period was handpicked to open for rapper Vic Mensa during a one of his shows during Converse Rubber Tracks Live.[10][11][8]

In 2016 Period teamed up with Ye Ali and Tommy Genesis for a side project, baby.daddi, in which they released a 4-track EP.[12][13] A year later, in 2017, Period released his debut LP Late Bloomer,[3] which he described as a “coming of age” album[14] and included the single “Everything is Trees”.[15]

Period was signed to Justin Tranter’s record label, Facet Records in partnership with Interscope Records, in 2017 , where he released the singles “Trap Star” and “Big Bag” in 2017, followed by his album Pretty Words on February 16, 2018. “Big Bag” was chosen as the theme song to the Facebook reality show series “Ball In The Family” by Big Baller Brand.[3][16]

Period cites Kanye West, Carole King, George Benson and Quincy Jones as some of his biggest influences.[2]
