It comprises six schools accommodating students between the ages of 2 and 9, one middle school accommodating students between the ages of 9 and 13, and one upper school catering for students between the ages of 13 and 18, including a sixth form. On the trust's website, it states that their aim is to "offer a world class, 21st century education for all young people between the ages of 2 and 18, by providing outstanding learning opportunities and creating centres of educational excellence that meet the needs of all children."[1] HistoryThe Wessex Learning Trust was founded as The Kings of Wessex Academy Trust, and registered at Companies House on 17 August 2010 by Christopher Murray Richardson. Richardson was the then-headteacher of The Kings of Wessex Academy in Cheddar, Somerset and created the trust with eight schools from the local area joining imminently. On 9 May 2016 it was renamed the Wessex Learning Trust and on 1 September 2017, Gavin Ball (the former headteacher of Frome College) was appointed as Executive Headteacher, succeeding Richardson. This followed Richardson's departure a day earlier.[2] In the future, the trust wishes to open a new primary school, accommodating students between the age of 4 and 11, in the new communities of Brue Farm and Isleport in Somerset. The trust say that "...It will be free to attend and highly inclusive with a distinctive Church of England character, and will offer its pupils the opportunity to grow and develop under-pinned by Christian values."[3] Structure{{quote box| width = 25% | align = right | quote = "We are passionate about providing the very best education for all the children in our Academies. Our ambition is that every student is helped to achieve their full potential so that they can make a positive contribution to our society and realise their lifetime ambitions." | source = —Former Executive Headteacher Chris Richardson, speaking about the Wessex Learning Trust.[4] }}Since 2010, the trust has compromised the following schools:
