  1. References

Zubia Mumtaz is a Pakistani-Canadian Associate Professor at the University of Alberta. She is known for her studies on maternal health and poverty in Chakwal District, Punjab. She is a member of Real Medicine Foundation.[1] In 2015 her publication appeared in The Lancet which called for mortality rate reduction. The same year she was quoted saying that she is "Advocating on behalf of these poor people is an uphill battle", and that "Everyone likes hearing about the poor, but when you get into the details about exactly who these people are and what their burdens are, you begin to make people uncomfortable. It is a large elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about."[2]
