The school offers Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in several Education specialties. It was established in 2002 as The Citadel reorganized its existing departments into the five schools.[1] The school is currently located in Capers Hall, but will move to Bond Hall after completion of a new building for the School of Business.[2] The degree programs from the school are offered jointly with other schools. Undergraduates can pursue a B.S. degree in Biology/Secondary Education, Physical Education (Teaching Track), or Social Studies Education, as well as a B.A. in Chemistry with Teaching Specialization or in Modern Languages (French, German, or Spanish). Graduate work include degree programs in four concentrations: Counselor, Educational Leadership, Teaching, and STEM as well as two certificate programs. On November 11, 2014, Anita Zucker announced a $4 million gift to The Citadel to expand and endow offerings in the School of Education. The Citadel announced that the school would henceforth be named for the Zucker family, the first of the five schools at the military college to be named for a major donor.[3][4][5] In cooperation with the School of Engineering and Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics, the school in 2009 established and supports The Citadel's STEM Center for Excellence, to prepare students for STEM careers through a variety of programs, including the "Storm the Citadel" Engineering week, summer camps, and scholarships.[6] Programs are also offered jointly and in cooperation with the College of Charleston and other local colleges at the Lowcountry Graduate Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.[7] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.citadel.edu/root/news-archives-sy02-03-schools|title=Citadel reorganizes departments into schools|publisher=The Citadel|date=November 21, 2002|accessdate=April 23, 2016}} {{The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina}}2. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20150405/PC16/150409685/1177/the-citadel-poised-to-begin-two-multimillion-building-projects|newspaper=Post and Courier|location=Charleston, South Carolina|date=April 5, 2015|author=Amanda Kerr|title=The Citadel poised to begin two multimillion dollar building projects|accessdate=May 1, 2016}} 3. ^{{cite news|url=http://charlestonbusiness.com/news/53010-zucker-family-donates-4m-to-the-citadel-rsquo-s-school-of-education|newspaper=Charleston Business Journal|location=Charleston, South Carolina|date=November 11, 2014|title=Zucker family donates $4M to The Citadel’s School of Education|author=Ashley Hefferman}} 4. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.live5news.com/story/27357229/citadel-4m-gift-from-zucker-to-help-build-school-of-education|publisher=WCSC-TV|location=Charleston, South Carolina|title=Citadel: $4M gift from Zucker supporting School of Education|date=November 11, 2014|accessdate=April 27, 2016}} 5. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20141111/PC16/141119823|newspaper=Post and Courier|title=Anita Zucker donates $4 million to The Citadel's education school |location=Charleston, SC|date=November 11, 2014|accessdate=April 27, 2016|author=Jennifer Berry Hawes}} 6. ^{{cite web |url=http://serc.carleton.edu/StemEdCenters/profiles/114236.html|title=The STEM Center of Excellence|publisher=Network of STEM Education Centers|accessdate=April 27, 2016}} 7. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.lowcountrygradcenter.org/news/the-citadel-and-the-college-of-charleston-expanding-education-offerings-at-the-lowcountry-graduate-center/|publisher=Lowcountry Graduate Center|accessdate=April 27, 2016|title=The Citadel and the College of Charleston Expanding Education Offerings at the Lowcountry Graduate Center}} 2 : The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina schools, colleges, and departments|Schools of education in the United States |
