"Are You Ready to Fly" is a 1992 single by Zambian-born singer Rozalla, from her album Everybody's Free. The song achieved a certain success in many countries, including US where it topped the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play, but this success remained minor in comparison with her hit single "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)".

Critical reception

Billboard wrote about the song: "The furor surrounding Rozalla's No. 1 hit, "Everybody's Free," has hardly started to subside, and she launches into an equally delightful trip into the realm between rave and hi-NRG. Tune benefits from a plethora of strong remixes that work just about every format angle imaginable. An instant club smash that deserves the extra promotional T.L.C. needed to take it the top of the pops."[1]Music & Media wrote: "The Zimbabwean singer takes off for another flight to the top. This third single in her bouncing pop/dance style completes her hat trick."[2]

Charles Aaron from Spin said about the song: "The beats are really, really fast and the synths occasionally sinister, so this is technicially techno, but it's more like soul salvation raving in the wilderness. Kevin Doyle's Woosh mix sends Rozalla's voice down a runway that has nothing and everything to do with fashion, and DJ EFX's Tribal As a Mofo mix is a delirious deconstruction."[3]

Chart performance

"Are You Ready to Fly" first charted in the United Kingdom in 1992, reaching number 14. The song was also a hit in the rest of Europe. In some countries it had been the follow-up to her biggest hit "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)", in others "Faith (In The Power Of Love)" had come in between.

The song was released in the US as her second single in 1992. It bubbled under, but did reach number one on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.

Cover versions

The song was covered by German happy hardcore band Dune with reasonable success in Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Jason Nevins remixed the song for his 2003 album.
