Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Archanes-Asterousia, of which it is a municipal unit.[1] The municipal unit has an area of {{convert|203.420|km2|abbr=on}}.[2] Population 5,217 (2011). The seat of the municipality was in Pyrgos. Other villages include Charakas.
