In 1999, the album was certified Gold by RIAA.[1] ConceptBloom represented a departure from the band's previous efforts into a more straightforward rock with hints of grunge music.[2] According to the band, both the title and the music reflects the way they've matured and "grown into a new phase of life".[3]RecordingBloom was recorded in 1995 at various studios in Tennessee: Ardent Recordings in Memphis, The Salt Mine in Brentwood, and House of Insomnia in Franklin. Producer, John Hampton, was in charge of the recording and mixing. The mastering was done by Ken Love at MasterMix, Nashville, Tennessee.[4]Critical reception{{Album ratings| rev1 = allmusic | rev1score = {{Rating|4.5|5}}[5] | rev2 = Jesus Freak Hideout | rev2score = {{rating|4.5|5}}[6] }}Bloom was well received by the audience becoming the first album of the band to be certified gold by RIAA.[7] John DiBiase, of Jesus Freak Hideout, gave the album 4.5 stars out of 5, calling it "a brave and risky album for the band that only proved to be an ultimately wise stylistic change... it's among their best, and a dang good 90's rock album." Paul Portell, also of Jesus Freak Hideout, gave it 3.5 stars out of 5, and wrote that the album "showed Audio A's growth and potential... No 90's Christian rock fan should be without this monumental project." Sherwin Frias, of Jesus Freak Hideout too, praised the band's improved songwriting and called the album "fantastic" and "essential for any AudioA fan".[8] Commercial performanceThe album peaked at No. 77 on Billboard 200.[9] Track listing{{track listing| title1 = Secret | length1 = 3:43 | writer1 = Barry Blair, Bob Herdman, Will McGinniss, Mark Stuart | title2 = Never Gonna Be as Big as Jesus{{ref label|hitp|a|a}}{{ref label|adios|b|b}} | length2 = 4:27 | writer2 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title3 = Good People | length3 = 3:26 | writer3 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title4 = I'm Not the King{{ref label|hitp|a|a}} | length4 = 3:53 | writer4 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title5 = Walk on Water{{ref label|hitp|a|a}} | length5 = 3:52 | writer5 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title6 = See Through | length6 = 4:58 | writer6 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title7 = Free Ride | length7 = 3:23 | writer7 = Blair, Daniel Hartman, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title8 = Man of God | length8 = 4:18 | writer8 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title9 = Gloryland | length9 = 4:24 | writer9 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title10 = Jazz Odyssey | length10 = 1:22 | writer10 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title11 = Bag Lady | length11 = 4:11 | writer11 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title12 = I Hear Jesus Calling | length12 = 3:22 | writer12 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | title13 = Memoir | length13 = 6:15 | writer13 = Blair, Herdman, McGinniss, Stuart | note13 = The song "Memoir" ends at 5:10.
