It replaced most of the eastern section of the former N-301 road. HistoryThe section between Murcia and Cartagena was built in the early 1990s, beginning at a junction with the autovía A-7 and deviating from the original course of the N-301 by bypassing the centres of these two cities. The section between Albacete and Murcia followed in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
