HistoryTambon Sam Suan, Ban Tao and Ban Thaen were separated from Phu Khiao district to create Ban Thaen minor district (King Amphoe) on June 16, 1965.[1] It was official upgraded to a full district on February 25, 1969.[2]GeographyNeighboring districts are (from the southwest clockwise) Kaeng Khro, Phu Khiao of Chaiyaphum Province, Nong Ruea and Mancha Khiri of Khon Kaen Province. AdministrationThe district is subdivided into 5 subdistricts (tambon), which are further subdivided into 66 villages (muban). The township (thesaban tambon) Ban Thaen covers parts of the tambon Ban Thaen. There are further 5 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
