Beachmont is a community within Revere, Massachusetts. This Boston area neighborhood is diverse with some turn-of-the-century homes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Belle Isle Marsh Reservation. East Boston and Winthrop border Beachmont on the South. HistoryIn the 1930s, Short Beach was the central community area for swimming, with Love Rock used for diving when the tide was right. Short Beach also was then the mooring site for one of or more lobster fishermen's boats. The father of the Ahern family was a lobsterman. Their house was at the corner of Pearl Avenue and the road that runs parallel to the Winthrop Parkway, then called The Back Road. Mr. Ahern's boat was anchored a few hundred yards from the sea wall, and he always left his rowboat on the part of the beach that was not likely to be reached by even the highest tides. Clams and mussels were available in abundance, but while the clams were often dug, the mussels for the most part went unharvested from the rocks they clung to. Boys of a certain age in the 1940s would throw mussels at each other, and from time-to-time they'd see, to their puzzlement, a grey-haired man harvesting mussels. When the mackerel were "running" (schools of mackerel chasing schools of minnows) they could be caught with a fishing pole using not bait but a shiny lure shaped like a minnow. Chromium lures were sold, but (at a lower price) lead and zinc lures lures could also be used and made to almost shine by rubbing their surfaces with the edge of a coin. A good spot for mackerel fishing in Beachmont was at the railing along the Boulevard (before the concrete sea wall was built), about forty or so yards from the intersection of Winthrop Avenue and Winthrop Parkway, which was then called The Boulevard, about twenty yards north of Love Rock. The shore of Short Beach, like others in Revere, was patrolled by soldiers at night during World War II. The gun emplacements on the Winthrop shore were nearby and Revere's beaches were seen as a possible landing place for enemy invaders.{{Citation needed|date=January 2018}} The stable-area of Suffolk Downs racetrack abuts the border of Beachmont, and it's citizens sometimes have had mixed opinions on this proximity. Some homeowners renting rooms to people who worked at the track, and some others who were inclined, usually not loudly,to speak in negative terms about grooms, jockeys and even owners and trainers. Some of the younger citizens could imitate the voice of Babe Rubenstein, the tracks respected (for his knowledge,accuracy and integrity) public address announcer—the man who "called" the races. The disposition of the stable area and the rest of the Suffolk Downs property continues into the year 2019, after, first, the loss of the possibility of a casino came about when Everett was chosen by the Wynn organization; secondly, and sadly for many who welcomed the chance to have the site taken over by a non-gambling organization, Amazon decided to also say no, choosing an area in the Queens borough of New York City for their new distribution center. The Belle Isle Marsh Reservation is adjacent to the Beachmont School and runs to Short Beach. Guided walks show off the local wildlife of Boston's last remaining salt marsh. The Beachmont Yacht Club docks boats on the marsh's main creek. Across the MBTA's Blue Line, Suffolk Downs straddles East Boston and Beachmont.{{Citation needed|date=January 2018}} TransitBefore the subway came to Beachmont, it was served by the narrow-gauge railroad, with access to Revere Beach available via trolley cars. Beachmont has access to just about all major modes of transportation.{{Citation needed|date=January 2018}} Beachmont Station on the MBTA's Blue Line connects Beachmont to Boston, Massachusetts on the inbound track and Revere Beach on the outbound track.
