The Bede BD-6 is a single-seat light aircraft first flown in the United States in 1974. Similar in design to the Bede BD-4, it is a high-wing cantilever monoplane of conventional configuration. The BD-6 is marketed as a kit homebuilt.[1] The prototype was damaged in St Louis in the Great Flood of 1993, but in 2005 was reportedly under restoration by Bedecorp. The company created new drawings to finally bring the design to market. By 2011 kits were for sale for US$13,000 and two aircraft had been flown.[1] The aircraft's recommended engine power range is {{convert|50|to|80|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} and standard engines used include the {{convert|60|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} HKS 700E four-stroke powerplant.[1] Specifications (prototype){{aerospecs|met or eng?=eng |ref=Jane's All the World's Aircraft 1976–77[2] |crew=one |capacity= |length m=5.11 |length ft=16 |length in=9 |span m=6.55 |span ft=21 |span in=6 |height m=1.98 |height ft=6 |height in=6 |wing area sqm=5.16 |wing area sqft=55.5 |empty weight kg=170 |empty weight lb=375 |gross weight kg=295 |gross weight lb=650 |eng1 number=1 |eng1 type=Hirth 720 |eng1 kw=41 |eng1 hp=55 |max speed kmh=225 |max speed mph=140 |max speed mach= |cruise speed kmh=238 |cruise speed mph=148 |range km=724 |range miles=450 |endurance h= |endurance min= |ceiling m=4,265 |ceiling ft=14,000 |glide ratio= |climb rate ms=4.6 |climb rate ftmin=900 }} References1. ^1 2 Vandermeullen, Richard: 2012 Kit Aircraft Buyer's Guide, Kitplanes, Volume 28, Number 12, December 2011, page 45.
