Behea or Bihiya is a small town in Bhojpur district in the Indian state of Bihar. This name is also transliterated as Bihiya बिहियाँ. Nearby villages include :- Judge Bharasara ,Hardiya, Mathiya, Tipura,and many other small villages.

Demographics

According to the 2011 census,[1] Behea had a population of 25000 or above Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Behea has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with 59% of the males and 41% of females literate. 17% of the population is under 6.

The primary language is Bhojpuri. The population is a mix of Hindus as well as Muslims.

Transport

The town has a railway station and a bus stop. It's almost 60km away from state capital Patna. Direct connectivity to train from all major city.

Culture

The locals follow old traditions and rituals. Important festivals are Holi, Diwali, Durgapuja, Chhath Puja, Id-Ul-Fitar and Muharram.

Food

The traditional breakfast food is jalebi and puri (handmade puri) and a lot of other sweets are available. Litti Chokha is available at every corner of town.

Temples

The "Mahthin Mai" temple is located in the town and also an amazing surya mandir temple with a beautiful lake in the middle of town. The temple compound hosts a number of fairs.And have also several beautiful temple as Mahavir Mandir,Durga Mata Mandir and many more.

Economy

The main source of Economy is Agriculture and commerce. It is a fertile agricultural area where main crops are wheat and rice.{{citation needed|date= November 2010}} Lands are farmed by independent owners who raise their own cattle and agricultural crops. A few Zamindars rent their farms to others. A tributary of the Ganga river flows by the village, which provides a source of irrigation.

Small-scale industries including an asbestos factory and brick-making operate here.

It is a business hub for small-time traders, who mainly collect agricultural produce from farmers to sell elsewhere. Power shortages constrict its potential.

Commercial area is Raja Bazaar on station road and several shopping Complex in Raza Bazar e.g, Jagdamba Market, it mainly has Jewel shops.

Education

Gautam public school, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya,Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Don Bosco Academy,Cambridge Public School, Gyanodaya,Gurukul gyan niketan & many more educational institutions are present.
