The capital of the region is Tsiroanomandidy. It is bordered by Betsiboka, Melaky, Menabe, Vakinankaratra, Itasy and Analamanga. The altitude ranges from {{convert|800|m|abbr=on}} to {{convert|1500|m|abbr=on}}. Administrative divisionsBongolava region is divided into two districts, which are sub-divided into 24 communes.
