Brownsville is a census-designated place in northeastern Bowling Green Township, Licking County, Ohio, United States.[1] Although it is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 43721.[2] It lies at the intersection of U.S. Route 40 with State Route 668. The post office has been taken out. HistoryBrownsville had its start when the National Road was extended to that point.[3] The community was laid out in 1829.[4] Brownsville was named for its founder, Adam Brown.[3] A post office was established in 1830.[5] Flint Ridge State Memorial is three miles north of Brownsville.
