Carinola borders the following municipalities: Falciano del Massico, Francolise, Sessa Aurunca, Teano. HistoryThe town was founded by the Pelasgi as Urbana , at the confluence between the roads to Teano and Cascano. Later it was held by the Etruscans, then by the Romans. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, it was destroyed first by the Vandals led by Gaiseric in the 5th century, then by the Saracens in 750. It was subsequently rebuilt as the modern Carinola on the nearby hills, becoming a bishopric seat in 1087. AwardsOn 8 November 2004, the President of Italy honoured Carinola with the Silver Medal of Military Valor in recognition of its part in World War II.
