It was built as the terminus of the sub branch of the Eryholme-Richmond branch line to serve Catterick Camp, now Catterick Garrison. Along with the rest of the stations on the branch it was closed in 1964. On 15 September 1917, a set of carriages ran away from the station and were derailed. Three people were killed.[1] {{Disused Rail Start}}{{rail line|previous=Brompton Road Halt|next= |route=Catterick sub-branch line|col=964B00}}{{s-end}} References1. ^{{cite book |last=Hoole |first=Ken |authorlink=Ken Hoole |title=Trains in Trouble: Vol. 3 |year=1982 |publisher=Atlantic Books |location=Redruth |isbn=0-906899-05-2 |pages=22 }}
