CDC25B is a member of the CDC25 family of phosphatases. CDC25B activates the cyclin dependent kinase CDC2 by removing two phosphate groups and it is required for entry into mitosis. CDC25B shuttles between the nucleus and the cytoplasm due to nuclear localization and nuclear export signals. The protein is nuclear in the M and G1 phases of the cell cycle and moves to the cytoplasm during S and G2. CDC25B has oncogenic properties, although its role in tumor formation has not been determined. Multiple transcript variants for this gene exist.[2] InteractionsCDC25B has been shown to interact with MAPK14,[3] Casein kinase 2, alpha 1,[4] CHEK1,[5] MELK,[6] Estrogen receptor alpha,[7] YWHAB,[8][9] YWHAZ,[8] YWHAH[8] and YWHAE.[8][9] References1. ^{{cite journal | vauthors = Galaktionov K, Beach D | title = Specific activation of cdc25 tyrosine phosphatases by B-type cyclins: evidence for multiple roles of mitotic cyclins | journal = Cell | volume = 67 | issue = 6 | pages = 1181–94 |date=February 1992 | pmid = 1836978 | pmc = | doi =10.1016/0092-8674(91)90294-9 }} 2. ^{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: CDC25B cell division cycle 25 homolog B (S. pombe)| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=994| accessdate = }} 3. ^{{cite journal |last=Bulavin |first=D V |author2=Higashimoto Y|author3=Popoff I J|author4=Gaarde W A|author5=Basrur V|author6=Potapova O|author7=Appella E|author8=Fornace A J |date=May 2001 |title=Initiation of a G2/M checkpoint after ultraviolet radiation requires p38 kinase |journal=Nature |volume=411 |issue=6833 |pages=102–7 | issn = 0028-0836| pmid = 11333986 |doi = 10.1038/35075107 | bibcode = | oclc =| id = | url = | language = | format = | accessdate = | laysummary = | laysource = | laydate = | quote = }} 4. ^{{cite journal |last=Theis-Febvre |first=Nathalie |author2=Filhol Odile |author3=Froment Carine |author4=Cazales Martine |author5=Cochet Claude |author6=Monsarrat Bernard |author7=Ducommun Bernard |author8=Baldin Véronique |date=January 2003 |title=Protein kinase CK2 regulates CDC25B phosphatase activity |journal=Oncogene |volume=22 |issue=2 |pages=220–32 | issn = 0950-9232| pmid = 12527891 |doi = 10.1038/sj.onc.1206107 | bibcode = | oclc =| id = | url = | language = | format = | accessdate = | laysummary = | laysource = | laydate = | quote = }} 5. ^{{cite journal |last=Sanchez |first=Y |author2=Wong C|author3=Thoma R S|author4=Richman R|author5=Wu Z|author6=Piwnica-Worms H|author7=Elledge S J |date=September 1997 |title=Conservation of the Chk1 checkpoint pathway in mammals: linkage of DNA damage to Cdk regulation through Cdc25 |journal=Science |volume=277 |issue=5331 |pages=1497–501 | issn = 0036-8075| pmid = 9278511 | bibcode = | oclc =| id = | url = | language = | format = | accessdate = | laysummary = | laysource = | laydate = | quote = | doi = 10.1126/science.277.5331.1497 }} 6. ^{{cite journal |last=Davezac |first=Noélie |author2=Baldin Véronique |author3=Blot Joëlle |author4=Ducommun Bernard |author5=Tassan Jean-Pierre |date=October 2002 |title=Human pEg3 kinase associates with and phosphorylates CDC25B phosphatase: a potential role for pEg3 in cell cycle regulation |journal=Oncogene |volume=21 |issue=50 |pages=7630–41 | issn = 0950-9232| pmid = 12400006 |doi = 10.1038/sj.onc.1205870 | bibcode = | oclc =| id = | url = | language = | format = | accessdate = | laysummary = | laysource = | laydate = | quote = }} 7. ^{{cite journal |last=Ma |first=Z Q |author2=Liu Z|author3=Ngan E S|author4=Tsai S Y |date=December 2001 |title=Cdc25B Functions as a Novel Coactivator for the Steroid Receptors |journal=Mol.
