CECI has a reputation as an academically-minded secondary school. At one time the school was part of the International Baccalaureate Organization; however, that status is no longer recognized.[2] The school has a strong reputation for its athletics, especially men's basketball & volleyball, men's and women's tennis, women's soccer and the varsity wrestling team.{{Citation needed|date=July 2010}}. Central also has a very strong music program{{Citation needed|date=July 2010}}. The school has a Grade 9 Band, Senior Wind Ensemble, Choir and the Jazz Band.
