LettersEditing and publication of Dickens's letters started in 1949 when publisher Rupert Hart-Davis persuaded Humphry House of Wadham College, Oxford, to edit a complete edition of the letters. House died suddenly aged 46 in 1955. However, the work continued, and by 1997 Volume 9 had been published.[3] Notes1. ^[https://archive.org/details/householdwords12dick/page/572 Household Words, Volume 12, page 573] 2. ^{{Citation | url = http://www.victorianweb.org/authors/dickens/edh/chronology.html |title = Chronology of Novels (from Charles Dickens: An Introduction to His Novels 1969) | author = E.
