It is located {{convert|60|km|mi}} east of Wainwright, and {{convert|10|km|mi}} west of the Saskatchewan border. It is also the home of Susie the Softball, the world's largest softball. HistoryChauvin started as a railroad siding in 1908. It was incorporated as a village in 1912.[4] The village has the name of George Von Chauvin, a railroad official.[5] DemographicsIn the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the Village of Chauvin recorded a population of 335 living in 145 of its 156 total private dwellings, a {{percentage|{{#expr:335-334}}|334|1}} change from its 2011 population of 334. With a land area of {{convert|2.24|km2|sqmi|abbr=on}}, it had a population density of {{Pop density|335|2.24|km2|sqmi|prec=1}} in 2016.[6] The population of the Village of Chauvin according to its 2016 municipal census is 345,[7] a {{percentage|{{#expr:345-340}}|340|1}} change from its 2011 municipal census population of 340.[8] In the 2011 Census, the Village of Chauvin had a population of 334 living in 144 of its 151 total dwellings, an 8.4% change from its 2006 population of 308.
