On October 20, 1962, it became a joint station with the now defunct Nambu Jukan Railway Line. On August 5, 1968, the routing of the Tōhoku Main Line slightly changed, and a new station was built, with the original Chibiki Station renamed {{nihongo|Nishi-Chibiki Station|西千曳駅}} serving only the Nambu Jukan Railway Line. Regularly scheduled freight services were also discontinued with the move. With the privatization of the JNR on April 1, 1987, the station came under the operational control of East Japan Railway Company (JR East). The section of the Tōhoku Main Line including this station was transferred to Aoimori Railway on December 4, 2010. Surrounding areaThe station is located in a very rural setting with no houses or buildings within walking distance. {{jct|country=JPN|Route|4}} See also
