Earlier it came under Homnabad Taluk. Chitgoppa was declared a taluk in 2017. It is 15 km from Humnabad and 147 km from Hyderabad.[1] AboutThe Nizams had control over this place and it was a district during their time and known as Paiga District. The Nizams established Sadar Diwani Adalat and Moffusil courts. Patwardhan Saheb was the first president of the municipality. Kishan Rao Saheb was the president of the municipality three consecutive times. Later he voluntarily stepped down and gave the opportunity to others to become president and serve.[2] This town has famous Dargah and Urs will be held every year and Nana Hazart Dargah is also there. This town has a Raghavendra swamy math and aradhane is done every year and Prasad will be served to all section of the society irrespective of caste and creed. Gavi Madivaleshwar Temple (caves), Markhandeshwara Temple, Bhavani Temple are also famous in this town. Moosa miya , Srikant Rai, Srikant Rao Vakil, Baba Bhukari, Govind Rao Borale, Kashinath swamy malli, Suryakanth Swamy, Kalgi Veerenna Ashok Guttedar and other prominent leaders belong to this place. Srikant Rao Vakeel unsuccessfully contested the 1994 MLA election from Humnabad and lost by a thin margin. This town has the Khandsari Sugar Factory, which closed in 2005. Raghavendra Auradkar the then Police commissioner did his schooling from his place. There is a more than 500 years old banyan tree near Basawanna temple at the heart of the city. The Dasara Festival is celebrated on the day when all the people in Chitgoppa go to Bhavani temple together and greet each other with "Banni" (Bangara).
