He was educated at Bishop Henshaw Senior High School in Rochdale, Lancashire and gained a degree in Business Studies from Manchester Polytechnic.[1] Geoghegan joined a predecessor of BAE in 1976. In 1998 he was seconded to Airbus Industrie, 20% owned by British Aerospace. In April 2000 he returned to BAE Systems to head BAE Systems Avionics.[2] Following the shock resignation of BAE CEO John Weston in early 2002, Geoghegan was promoted to joint Chief operating officer. He replaced Mike Turner who was himself promoted to CEO to replace Weston.[3] With effect from January 2007 Geoghegan and his co-COO were replaced by Ian King. King was promoted in what the Financial Times described as "in part designed to improve relations with the MoD further".[4] Geoghean maintains his responsibility for BAE's partnerships, including MBDA, and remains on the board and reports to King.[5] References1. ^{{cite web|title=Christopher Vincent Geoghegan BA (Hons), FRAES|url=https://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/people/person.asp?personId=1922414&privcapId=876801|website=Bloomberg L.P.|accessdate=7 September 2017}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Geoghegan, Christopher Vincent}}{{UK-business-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite news|first = Alexandra|last = Harney|title = Geoghegan move welcomed by BAE investors|work = Financial Times|publisher = The Financial Times|page = 13|date = 2002-04-06}} 3. ^{{cite news|first= Simon|last= Goodley|title= BAE fills last of the senior jobs|work= The Daily Telegraph|publisher= Telegraph Group |page= 29|date= 2002-04-06}} 4. ^{{cite news| first =James| last =Boxwell| title =Tornados' upkeep role opens deals to BAE weapons| work = Financial Times| publisher = The Financial Times| page = 4| date = 2006-12-23}} 5. ^{{cite news | first = Michael | last = Harrison| title = Succession battle hots up at arms manufacturer BAE| work = The Independent| publisher = Newspaper Publishing| page = 48 | date = 2006-11-11 }} 8 : 1954 births|Living people|Alumni of Manchester Metropolitan University|BAE Systems people|British people of Irish descent|British businesspeople|British corporate directors|Chief operating officers |
