HistoryCourtedoux is first mentioned in 814 as Curtis Udulphi.[1] GeographyCourtedoux has an area of {{Swiss area|6785|mi=on}}.{{Swiss area data|6785|QUELLE}} Of this area, {{convert|4.27|km2|mi2|abbr=on}} or 51.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while {{convert|3.08|km2|mi2|abbr=on}} or 37.5% is forested. Of the rest of the land, {{convert|0.8|km2|mi2|abbr=on}} or 9.7% is settled (buildings or roads).[1] Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 3.5% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.7%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 2.9% of the area Out of the forested land, 35.8% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.7% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 29.7% is used for growing crops and 19.5% is pastures and 2.2% is used for alpine pastures.[1] The municipality is located in the Porrentruy district, on a rise above the Creugenat valley. Migration accounted for 0.1%, while births and deaths accounted for -3.5%.[4] Most of the population ({{as of|2000|lc=on}}) speaks French (709 or 95.9%) as their first language, German is the second most common (18 or 2.4%) and Portuguese is the third (4 or 0.5%). The population was made up of 307 Swiss men (42.5% of the population) and 27 (3.7%) non-Swiss men. The next three most popular parties were the SPS (29.03%), the FDP (17.5%) and the SVP (12.92%). Of the 74 who completed tertiary schooling, 70.3% were Swiss men, 20.3% were Swiss women and 8.1% were non-Swiss women.[6] The Canton of Jura school system provides two year of non-obligatory Kindergarten, followed by six years of Primary school. This is followed by three years of obligatory lower Secondary school where the students are separated according to ability and aptitude.
