“Cow belt”的意思、由来-开放百科全书

The cow belt comprises the Indo-Gangetic Plain's rural regions of India and extends over the BIMARU states,^[1]^[2] namely Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.^[3]^[4]

The sobriquet comes from the high reverence given by people belonging to these states to cows, which are considered sacred in Hindu religion. Most cases of cow related violence and mob lynchings in India were reported from these states.^[5]
