Daniel Chater (1870 – 25 May 1959) was a British Labour Co-operative politician.

A member of the National Union of General and Municipal Workers, he was active for twenty-five years in the trades union and co-operative movements before being elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Hammersmith South constituency in the 1929 general election. However, he had only a slim majority - 412 votes - and lost the seat in the 1931 general election. He was re-elected in the 1935 general election for the seat of Bethnal Green North East, and held the seat until it was abolished in 1950, when he decided to stand down from Parliament.
