David Elsworth (born 1939) is a horse trainer[1] living in the United Kingdom. He was the trainer of Desert Orchid, 1988 Grand National winner Rhyme 'n' Reason, and 1990 Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Barnbrook Again; three horses among a number of top-class performers for over jumps and on the flat. Daivid Elsworth was champion national hunt trainer 1987-88. Elsworth also trained Persian Punch to win multiple staying races on the flat, whilst his sole classic success came with the 1990 Irish 1000 Guineas with In the Groove.[2] Elsworth began his training career as an assistant to Ricky Vallance at Bishops Cannings in Wiltshire in the early 1970s. When Vallance lost his training licence Elsworth took a job as a market trader before setting up as a trainer in his own right.[3] References1. ^http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/newmarket/2005/10/17/b9c395c0-e566-4b06-9e9d-6083de841aa7.lpf {{DEFAULTSORT:Elsworth, David}}{{UK-horseracing-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://channel4.teamtalk.com/C4_Stats/0,12559,stats!TRAINER~ALL_240,00.html|title=Trainer statistics|publisher=channel4.com}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.racingpost.com/news/horse-racing/ashforths-angles-newcomer-a-nod-to-elsworths-past/2243005/#newsArchiveTabs=last7DaysNews|title=Newcomer a nod to Elsworth's past|author=David Ashforth|date=8 February 2017|publisher=Racing Post}} 3 : 1939 births|Living people|British horse trainers |
