Nicholls played for Gretna in the 2006 Scottish Cup Final and helped them secure three successive promotions.[2][3] Nicholls was assistant manager of East Stirlingshire, working for manager Jim McInally. Nicholls and McInally left the club in May 2011.[4] Nicholls then became assistant manager of Peterhead, again assisting McInally.[5] References1. ^{{cite news|title=Clockwatch: Scottish Premier League|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/1473197.stm |accessdate=7 October 2016|publisher=BBC|date=4 August 2001}} 2. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2336866/Little-Gretna-left-heartbroken.html|title=Little Gretna left heartbroken|first=Roddy|last=Forsyth|work=Sunday Telegraph|publisher=Telegraph Media Group|accessdate=15 January 2012|date=14 May 2006}} 3. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/gretna-goodbye-for-nicholls-and-o-neil-1.72493?referrerPath=2.3256 |title=Gretna goodbye for Nicholls and O'Neil |work=News & Star |publisher= |date=7 May 2007 |accessdate=15 January 2012 }}{{dead link|date=December 2016 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }} 4. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.falkirkherald.co.uk/sport/local-sport/mcinally_and_nicholls_depart_shire_1_1624287|title=McInally and Nicholls depart Shire|work=Falkirk Herald|publisher=Johnston Press|date=13 May 2011|accessdate=15 January 2012}} 5. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/money-memories.15908838|title=Money & memories|work=The Herald|publisher=Herald & Times Group|date=23 November 2011|accessdate=15 January 2012|first=Richard|last=Wilson}} External links
