He attended Queen’s University, Kingston and graduated with degrees in theater arts and education.[2][3] CareerIn 2000, Armstrong appeared as the recurring character Blake on the show Queer as Folk on Showtime (2000–2005) and Broadway (2000–2002). In 2005, Armstrong appeared in the Canadian premiere of Tick, Tick ... Boom!.[4] Some of Armstrong's acting credits include Copper, Flashpoint, Alphas, Bloody Beginnings, The Listener, Haven, Saw 3D, 5 seasons on Showtime’s Queer as Folk, the season 2 host of the CBC 6 part mini-series Triple Sensation as well as 2 years in Rent.
