She was the Washington state Insurance Commissioner for two terms from 1993 to 2001. In 2000, in lieu of running for re-election, she ran for the U.S. Senate, losing in Democratic primary election to Maria Cantwell.[1] In 2004, she unsuccessfully ran for Attorney General, narrowly defeating Mark Sidran by less than 10,000 votes in the primary, but losing to Rob McKenna in the general election.[1] Senn also has been partner in a law firm.[2] She is a first cousin, once-removed of current Washington State Representative Tana Senn.[3] Electoral history{{Election box begin | title=Washington Attorney General, 2004 General Election[4]}}{{Election box candidate with party link||party = Republican Party (US) |candidate = Rob McKenna |votes = 1,425,368 |percentage = 52.98 |change = }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Democratic Party (US) |candidate = Deborah Senn |votes = 1,163,964 |percentage = 43.27 |change = }}{{Election box candidate with party link| |party = Libertarian Party (US) |candidate = J.
