The darmalinga malai is the Shiva temple on the rock, lord Dharmalingeswaraswamy in the temple is a Swayambumurthi. Distance from coimbatore to temple is around 13 kms south of Coimbatore,temple is situated in Marappalam- madukkarai - Coimbatore District. Devotees undertake Girivalam - circumambulating around the hill on Poornima - full moon days. Around 35 to 40 thousand devotees undertake Chitra poornima Girivalam - circumambulating around the hill and annadham will be given to devotees on all full moon and Pradosha days. Bajans are sung in the temple during the whole night of Maha Shivrathri in March - April. TEMPLE OPENING TIME: In normal days opening time is Morning 6 am to 1 pm, 3 pm to 5.30 pm ( Temple closed from 1 pm to 3 pm every normal days). In poornima and pradosam days Temple opening timeis morning 6 am and closing time 6.30 pm. Devotees need to reach half an hour before to adivaram, this will help them to reach the top hill temple in time. Footwears, Lungi and half pant like Bermudas, charts are not allowed while climbing the hill steps.
