It is currently unique to the Bashkir language where it represents the voiced dental fricative {{IPA|/ð/}}, like the pronunciation of {{angbr|th}} in "this". Its form is derived from the Cyrillic letter Ze (З з З з). It is romanized as ⟨ź⟩ or more phonetically, ⟨ð⟩.
