He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1987. He was selected twice to the first team All American team. Dick (Richie) Scott was selected first team All America in 1945, second team in 1946, then selected again to first team in 1947. Dick also earned varsity letters in Basketball and Lacrosse at The U.S. Naval Academy. Dick graduated from Highland Falls (NY) High School in 1942. Interestingly, Dick's older brother Tom Scott played End for Army under Hall of Fame Coach Earl (Red) Blaik. Tom went on to play for the Brooklyn Football Dodgers of the All America Football Conference. When a knee injury ended Tom's career, He was named Dodger Assistant coach and later became Head coach at the ripe age of 26. References
