In 1985, a bond issued to authorize the building of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library and Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, which opened its doors on September 9, 1990.[2][3] RelocationIn 2010 the museum announced plans to construct and occupy a new home and larger home in Symphony Park.[4] The total for the Donald W. Reynolds Discovery Center project was $50 million.[5] In August 2010, the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation announced a gift to The Smith Center to pay for the completion of its block in Symphony Park. $43 million of that gift was used to build the Donald W. Reynolds Discovery Center. The museum raised the remaining $7 million needed to complete the project.[6] The new museum opened on March 9, 2013.[3] References1. ^1 {{cite news|title=Discover Gr8 Museums: DISCOVERY Children's Museum|date=11 September 2014|url=http://www.8newsnow.com/story/26512828/discover-gr8-museums-discovery-childrens-museum|accessdate=10 March 2015}} 2. ^1 {{cite news|title=Discovery Children's Museum|url=http://www.lasvegassun.com/places/discovery-childrens-museum/|accessdate=10 March 2015}} 3. ^1 {{citation|title=Discovery Children's Museum History|publisher=Discovery Children's Museum|url=http://www.discoverykidslv.org/about-us/|accessdate=10 March 2015}} 4. ^{{cite news |title=Children’s museum plans for Smith Center expansion |first=Erin |last= Dostal |newspaper=Las Vegas Sun |date=August 11, 2010 |url=http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/aug/11/childrens-museum-plans-smith-center-expansion/ |accessdate=}} 5. ^{{citation|title=Symphony Park|url=http://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/government/7598.htm|accessdate=10 March 2015|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20150309042657/http://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Government/7598.htm|archivedate=9 March 2015|df=}} 6. ^{{cite news |title=The Smith Center - A Year in the Arts: Children's museum offers illumination |first=Diane |last= Taylor |newspaper=Las Vegas Review Journal |date=March 13, 2013 |url=http://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainment/arts-culture/smith-center-year-arts-childrens-museum-offers-illumination |accessdate=10 March 2015}} External links{{LV museums}}{{Downtown Las Vegas}} 6 : Children's museums in Nevada|Museums in Las Vegas|Downtown Las Vegas|Symphony Park|Museums established in 1984|1984 establishments in Nevada |
