The racial makeup of the city was 99.3% White, 0.3% Native American, and 0.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population. There were 154 households of which 20.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.0% were married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 1.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 54.5% were non-families. 53.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 24.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.90 and the average family size was 2.91. The median age in the city was 49.1 years. 20.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.6% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 17% were from 25 to 44; 28% were from 45 to 64; and 27.6% were 65 years of age or older. The racial makeup of the city was 96.87% White, 1.25% from other races, and 1.88% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.25% of the population. There were 154 households out of which 23.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 45.5% were non-families. 44.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 30.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.07 and the average family size was 2.92. In the city, the population was spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 22.6% from 25 to 44, 16.9% from 45 to 64, and 31.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 85.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.1 males.
