Dunmore is the administrative centre of Cypress County and Prairie Rose School Division No. 8. The hamlet was named by the CPR after one of its benefactors: Charles Murray, the Earl of Dunmore.[3] DemographicsAs a designated place in the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Dunmore recorded a population of 514 living in 185 of its 188 total private dwellings, a change of {{percentage|{{#expr:514-502}}|502|1}} from its 2011 population of 502. With a land area of {{convert|2.41|km2|sqmi|abbr=on}}, it had a population density of {{Pop density|514|2.41|km2|sqmi|prec=1}} in 2016.[4] The Dunmore designated place comprises only a portion of the hamlet.[5] Cypress County indicates that the population of the Hamlet of Dunmore was 1,097 in the 2016 Census, a change of {{percentage|{{#expr:1097-1025}}|1025|1}} from its 2011 population of 1,025.[5] As a designated place in the 2011 Census, Dunmore had a population of 502 living in 182 of its 186 total dwellings, a -6% change from its 2006 population of 534. With a land area of {{convert|2.42|km2|sqmi|abbr=on}}, it had a population density of {{Pop density|502|2.42|km2|sqmi}} in 2011.[6] The Dunmore designated place comprises only a portion of the hamlet.[7][8] EducationJust south of the community is Eagle Butte High School, named after a geographic feature of the Cypress Hills. A one-room schoolhouse in the Cypress Hills was called "Eagle Butte School".[9] Amenities and servicesLocated in the hamlet is Dunmore Park – which has a playground, outdoor hockey rink, baseball field, and a small BMX track.
