He begin playing with FK Napredak Kruševac where he became one of the most influential players. In 1980, he moved to HNK Hajduk Split having won with them the 1984 Yugoslav Cup. He also played abroad with Turkish Fenerbahçe S.K. where he was a fan favourite due to his ambition and agility. His international debut was on 30 March 1980 against Romania in Belgrade.
