ABS-CBN Zamboanga (DXLL-TV Channel 3), is an owned and operated television station of Philippine television network ABS-CBN Corporation. Its studios are at the ABS-CBN Broadcast Center, San Jose Road, Zamboanga City and the transmitter is located at Tetuan St., Zamboanga City.

Timeline

  • Channel 3 Zamboanga was launched by RT Broadcasting Specialist, Inc. in 1976, the first in the city after the declaration of Martial Law in 1972. During that time, it was then called as Pioneer 3 Zamboanga, a GMA Network affiliate. It was also the first station in Zamboanga to air a local newscast on early evenings. It also broadcast other local shows produced in Zamboanga. From 1992 to 1994, as part of GMA's expansion of coverage through the Rainbow Satellite, Pioneer RT3 stopped producing local newscasts and became a relay of GMA's flagship DZBB-TV channel 7.
  • On January 1, 1995, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation (whose programs were aired via affiliate station First United Broadcasting Corporation's DXLA-TV Channel 9 since 1986) bought Channel 3 from RT Broadcasting. To compensate the purchase, network affiliations were swapped between ABS-CBN and FUBC; with the former becoming an owned and operated station, and FUBC picking up the GMA affiliation on channel 9.
  • The station was one of the first stations airing Cebu-produced ABS-CBN programs under the Regional Network Group in March 1995; the others being ABS-CBN 2 Cagayan de Oro, ABS-CBN 3 General Santos and ABS-CBN 4 Davao during the launching of two Visayan drama series "Kang Kinsa Isabwag ang Mga Bulak" and "Siya ug Ako sa Kangitngit" along with the original sitcom "Milyonaryong Mini". The RNG successfully expanded into the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao in 1996 and later into Luzon later that year.
