It is located in a smaller sub-group of islands referred to as the Dog Islands, or more commonly, "The Dogs". Other islets in The Dogs include Little Seal Dog Island, West Dog Island and George Dog Island, all of which are to the northwest of Virgin Gorda. The island provides habitat for the crested anole (Anolis cristatellus wileyae).[1] In 1985, white band disease was noted on elkhorn coral (A. palmata) in the water to the north of the island.[2] References1. ^{{cite book|url=https://archive.org/details/firstsupplementt51978schw/page/12|title=First supplement to a check-list of West Indian amphibians and reptiles|publisher=Carnegie Museum of Natural History|location=Pittsburgh|first1=Albert|last1=Schwartz|first2=Richard|last2=Thomas|first3=Lewis D.|last3=Ober|pages=12-13|issn=0145-9031|oclc=886468503}} {{British Virgin Islands}}{{BVI-geo-stub}}2. ^{{cite book|url=https://archive.org/details/coralreefsofworl88well/page/76|title=Coral Reefs of the World|volume=Volume 1: Atlantic and Eastern Pacific|first=S.M.|last=Wells|publisher=UNEP/IUCN|year=1988|page=76|isbn=2880329434|oclc=916128569}} 1 : Uninhabited islands of the British Virgin Islands |
