A race of Elder Gods overthrown by a present race of younger gods is a mythic theme in the Ancient Near East{{Citation needed|date=February 2012}} and in Indo-European mythologies of the Ancient Greeks, Ancient Germans and other early civilisations (see Titan (mythology), Titanomachy).
