He played in several teams with his twin brother, Antonio, and spent most of his career with Brescia, amassing Serie A totals of 175 games and six goals over the course of eight seasons.[1][2] Football careerBorn in Brescia, Filippini emerged through his hometown Brescia Calcio's youth system, and stayed there for eight professional seasons, after having started – on loan – with amateurs Ospitaletto, the first of many teams he shared with his sibling Antonio. The pair made their Serie A debut on 31 August 1997, in a 1–2 away loss against Inter Milan.[3] After one-and-a-half seasons on loan to Parma AC, Filippini moved alongside Antonio to U.S. Città di Palermo.[4] He scored four goals in his short spell, to help the Sicilian side return to the top division after 31 years. Filippini then hard three more solid campaigns, one each with S.S. Lazio, Treviso F.B.C. 1993[5] and Bologna F.C. 1909 (the first two with Antonio, the latter in the second division), before signing with A.S. Livorno Calcio in 2007. In his second season he appeared in only a handful of games – unlike his twin, which had joined the previous year – but helped the club in the successful promotion play-offs, after which he was released, at nearly 36, retiring shortly after. In late January 2010, Brescia appointed Filippini as assistant coach of the Giovanissimi Nazionali youth team guided by Omar Danesi.[6] On 25 June 2012, it was announced that both brothers would join lowly FeralpiSalò as youth system coordinators.[7] References1. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.fifa.com/news/y=2010/m=2/news=the-game-terrible-twins-1169316.html|title=The game's terrible twins|publisher=FIFA|date=12 February 2010|accessdate=11 December 2015}} 2. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.bresciaoggi.it/home/sport/antonio-filippini-stretto-tra-due-amori-1.4137162|title=Antonio Filippini stretto tra due amori|trans-title=Antonio Filippini caught between two loves|newspaper=Brescia Oggi|language=it|date=30 September 2010|accessdate=11 December 2015}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://dalepepe.it/eroi-di-provincia-i-gemelli-filippini/|title=Eroi di Provincia: I gemelli Filippini|trans-title=Small country heroes: The Filippini twins|publisher=Dale Pepe|language=it|date=10 January 2015|accessdate=11 December 2015}}{{dead link|date=September 2017|bot=InternetArchiveBot|fix-attempted=yes}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.ilpalermocalcio.it/it/0405/news_scheda.jsp?id=2043|title=Quadriennale per Adriano, Ceduti i Filippini e Vannucchi, riscattato Pepe|trans-title=Four years for Adriano, Filippinis and Vannucchi loaned, Pepe purchased|publisher=U.S. Palermo|language=it|date=31 August 2004|accessdate=13 April 2010}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://en.archive.uefa.com/footballeurope/news/kind=2/newsid=327505.html|title=Livorno to bank on Bakayoko|publisher=UEFA|date=18 August 2005|accessdate=18 May 2011|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://archive.is/20120708105814/http://en.archive.uefa.com/footballeurope/news/kind=2/newsid=327505.html|archivedate=8 July 2012|df=}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.bresciaonline.it/or4/or?uid=BOLesy.main.index&oid=602690&uidx_15=BOLappl.news.dettaglio&idnews=1537497&is_popup=0|title=Emanuele Filippini nuovo aiuto allenatore dei Giovanissimi Nazionali|trans-title=Emanuele Filippini new Giovanissimi Nazionali assistant coach|publisher=Brescia Online|language=it|date=6 February 2010|accessdate=6 February 2010}} 7. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.bresciatoday.it/sport/ferlpisalo-emanuele-antonio-gemelli-filippini.html|title=FeralpiSalò: ecco i gemelli Filippini.
