The club is best known for its basketball team, that currently plays in the Liga Nacional de Básquet (LNB), the top division of the Argentine league system. Estudiantes is nicknamed Albo (in English: "White") for the traditional white color of its uniform. Manu Ginóbili of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs played for Estudiantes prior to moving to the Italian league in 1998.
