The school is part of the Finneytown Local School District, whose mascot is the Wildcat. Finneytown high school participated in a system called the house system where students are divided into six houses and compete against each other. The six houses are P.E.M, Ebenezer, Clark, Kopke, Telford and Pringle. Each are named for someone memorable to Finneytown. PEM stands for the last names of three Finneytown students killed at The Who concert. Ebenezer Finney founded Finneytown. Donavan Clark is a Finneytown Alumni who plays in the NFL. Jane Kopke is a former teacher who taught at Finneytown for over 50 years. Telford Whitaker was the first principle over at Whitaker elementary. Pringle Drive is the street the inventor of Pringle chips lived on. AcademicsFinneytown offers the following 12 AP courses: AP Biology, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Art History, AP Psychology, AP Human Geography, AP U.S. History, AP U.S. Government, AP Chemistry, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Statistics, and AP Calculus AB. Finneytown offers many performing arts programs including orchestra, state recognized choir and band programs, and a theatrical program. The foreign language courses currently offered include Spanish at levels I, II, III, and IV, and French at levels I, II, III, and IV.
