The show was a spin-off of Sorority Life. First seasonThe first season occurred at the University at Buffalo. It followed college students pledging for the Sigma Chi Omega fraternity.[2] The fraternity ended up getting in trouble for illegal hazing and breaking into the Buffalo Zoo.[3][4][5] The fraternity has subsequently regained "on campus" status and is currently in "normal" standing with the University.[6] Second seasonThe second season occurred at the University of California, Santa Cruz. It followed college students pledging the Delta Omega Chi fraternity.[7] Once again, the show got in trouble with the university. Two frat brothers stole a koi named Midas from a pond on campus and barbecued it and ate it.[8][9] This led to protests and eventually the revoking of the fraternity's charter by the university.[10][11] The second season was also notable for featuring the first openly gay person, Keldon Clegg, to appear on either the Fraternity Life or Sorority Life series.[12] References1. ^{{cite news | title = Television Review; A-mega Greek drama; MTV's sorority, fraternity kids spew double dose of theatrics| first = Amy | last = Amatangelo |department=ARTS &LIFESTYLE | page = 025 | newspaper = Boston Herald | date = 22 February 2003 | url = }} {{MTVNetwork Shows}}2. ^{{cite news | title = Residents Wary of New MTV Neighbors| first = Gary | last = Chandler |department=LOCAL | page = B3 | newspaper = Buffalo News | date = 5 September 2002 | url = }} 3. ^{{cite news | title = Fraternity on MTV Suspended on Hazing Concerns [Corrected 04/05/03]| first = Stephen | last = Watson |department=Local | page = B1 | newspaper = Buffalo News | date = 20 March 2003 | url = }} 4. ^{{cite news | title = Fraternity Prank may Lead to Charges [Corrected 04/03/03]| first = Tom | last = Buckham |department=LOCAL | page = B1 | newspaper = Buffalo News | date = 27 March 2003 | url = }} 5. ^{{cite news | title = Fraternity on MTV Show is Put on Probation| first = Stephen | last = Watson |department=LOCAL | page = B3 | newspaper = Buffalo News | date = 2 May 2003 | url = }} 6. ^{{cite web|title=Greek Affairs - University of Buffalo|url=http://www.student-affairs.buffalo.edu/greeklife/ifc10.php|accessdate=11 June 2011}} 7. ^{{cite news | title = MTV Goes Greek: Network Renews "Sorority Life" and "Fraternity Life"| first = | last = |department=Everyday Magazine | page = F6 | newspaper = St. Louis Post-Dispatch | date = 5 June 2003 | url = }} 8. ^{{cite news | title = Santa Cruz mourns one that didn't get away / Beloved campus koi stolen, possibly grilled| first = Alan | last = Gathright |department=NEWS | page = A.1 | newspaper = The San Francisco Chronicle | date = 5 June 2003 | accessdate = 4 Apr 2010 | url = http://articles.sfgate.com/2003-06-05/news/17495350_1_koi-delta-omega-chi-goldie}} 9. ^{{cite news | title = SANTA CRUZ / MTV tape helps convict fish thieves| first = Alan | last = Gathright |department=BAY AREA | page = B.4 | newspaper = The San Francisco Chronicle | date = 19 March 2004 | accessdate = 4 Apr 2010 | url = http://articles.sfgate.com/2004-03-19/bay-area/17418439_1_grand-theft-delta-omega-chi-uc-santa-cruz}} 10. ^{{cite news|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20030627112333/http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/archive/2003/June/08/local/stories/04local.htm|url=http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/archive/2003/June/08/local/stories/04local.htm|title=Protest staged at fraternity|first=Robyn |last = Moormeister|archivedate = 27 June 2003|date = 8 June 2003|newspaper = Santa Cruz Sentinel}} 11. ^{{cite web| title =UCSC revokes fraternity's recognition over fish incident |url = http://www.ucsc.edu/currents/02-03/06-09/revocation.html |date = 13 June 2003|accessdate = 4 Apr 2010 }} 12. ^http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/fraternity_life_2/2003_Sep_19_frat_life_will_show 5 : MTV reality television series|2003 American television series debuts|2005 American television series endings|2000s American reality television series|Reality television spin-offs |
