He was especially interested in the beetle fauna of caves. His collection of Scydmaenidae, Trechinae, Bathysciinae, Liodidae, Staphylinidae, Pselaphidae and Catopidae is in the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle, in Paris. He died in Metz.
