EtymologyGalinsoor is one of the last named districts of the Galgaduud region of Somalia. It lies border between Mudug and Galgaduud regions and has the main road that connects most of the regions of Somalia.The town's name is derived from two Somali words: Gelin and Soor. Gelin means either "half of the day", "afternoon" or "before noon"; Soor means "hosting guests". Thus, Galinsoor refers to a place where guests were hosted.
