GeographyGanjdundwara is located at 27.43°N 78.56°E. It has an average elevation of 166 metres (545 feet). The city is situated near the river Ganga, it is the nearest holy river for the city. A large number of surrounding villages depend on agriculture and related economic activities. Demographics{{As of|2011}} India census,[1] Ganjdundwara had a population of 41,245. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Ganjdundwara has an average literacy rate of 44%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 51%, and female literacy is 38%. In Ganjdundwara, 18% of the population is under 6 years of age. National river Ganges flows around 15 km away in NE direction and well connected via road.One of the longest bridge has been constructed over the Ganga (at Kadarganj) which is about 15 km from town. This new bridge opened shortest route between Agra and Bareilly via Etah-Ganjdundwara-Kadarganj-Badaun, This will open the great facilities and opportunities to the near by villagers. ClimateGanjdundwara features a humid subtropical climate. The winters are moderate. The summers are hot and dry, with temperatures regularly exceeding 35°C. The monsoon season runs from the end of June to September. During the monsoon season, almost daily showers are not an uncommon phenomenon. From October onward, the weather is pleasant. Proper winter begins in early December. EducationGanjdundwara has a number of private and public schools and colleges. The medium of instruction in almost all educational institutions is predominantly Hindi. But from the last few years the city is shifting towards the English culture. Gyanodaya Vidyalaya is a famous school in Ganjdundwara for good and quality education. Ganjdundwara (P.G.) College is affiliated to Dr B.R Ambedkar University, Agra. Once, it was the only degree college in the region after Agra. IndustryGanjdundwara is famous for its handloom industry, leather industries, batteries, horticulture accessories, and brick paving kilns. Buzzing of textile machinery can be easily heard all over the town. State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank, Gramin Bank, Urban Co-operative Bank, District Co-operative Bank and Post Office cater for the banking needs of merchants and residents of this town and nearby areas. Ministry of Broadcasting has a Doordarshan Relay Center running on UHF band. Yagi-Uda antenna up to a range of 45 KM enable residents to watch free to air channels offered by Dooradarshan. There is also a BSNL office here, which operate the nearby towns to provide the better telephonic connectivity provided by BSNL. It provides both landline and WLL phone options. EntertainmentGanjdundwara has two cinema halls, Milan Talkies and Krishna Talkies. Milan Talkies is situated at the Etah road and Krishna Talkies is situated at the other end of the city. They are defunct now. And another one club at Etah road. Vividh Bharati LettersSince many decades, the popular old radio station in India, Vividh Bharti has been received regular letters from listeners from Ganj Dundwara. Almost every program that invites requests for songs from listeners has multiple letters from this place - as a result, the place has become well-known to many who hadn't heard of it before. TourismAlthough not a tourist destination itself there are a few nearby places of interest, such as Ram Chhitoni, kakora fair in kadarganj Ganga river bank, sai temple, hanuman mandir, bagh panchayti, Raja Ram Chauraha,Gandhi Park TransportGanjdundwara is situated on the Kanpur-Farrukhabad-Kasganj-Mathura BG line. Station code is GWA. All short distance trains stop here. Kasganj Jn, around 35 km away from here, has halts of all trains. The town is also connected to Etah (situated on NH 91) via road. UPSRTC provides various bus services to and from Delhi (Anand Vihar ISBT), Agra, Aligarh via Etah and Kasganj. Most of the buses from Delhi are available in evening.
