释义 |
Glen Docherty ({{lang-gd|Gleann Dochartaich}}) is a glen in Wester Ross in Scotland, between Loch Maree and Kinlochewe to the west and Loch a'Chroisg and Achnasheen to the east. The A832 road runs through the glen, which runs between the peaks of Càrn a' Ghlinne ({{convert|539|m|ft}}) to the north and Carn Loisgte ({{convert|446|m|ft}}) to the south. Until recently this was a single track road with passing places, but {{convert|5.8|km|mi}} of the road has now been upgraded to double track.[1] FormationVolcanic activity in this region ceased about 50 million years ago, after which the landscape was shaped by glaciation from about 1.8 million years ago to the end of the Great Ice Age about 10,000 years ago. The U-shaped glen of Glen Docherty is typical of a glen formed by the action of glaciers.[2] References1. ^{{cite web|title=Road upgrade is miles better |url=http://www.hipp.org.uk/files/downloads/download27.pdf |format=pdf |work=in focus, Newsletter of the Highlands and Islands Partnership Programme, p.4 |year=Autumn 2004 |accessdate=20 January 2007 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20061012074519/http://www.hipp.org.uk/files/downloads/download27.pdf |archivedate=12 October 2006 |deadurl=yes |df= }} {{coord|57|35|34|N|5|15|17|W|region:GB_type:landmark|display=title}}{{Highland-geo-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.highlandwelcome.co.uk/whattodo/geology.htm|title=The Geology of Loch Ewe|work=Gairloch and Loch Ewe Action Forum|author=Prof. Peter Maguire|year=2005|accessdate=19 January 2007}} 2 : Glens of Scotland|Valleys of Highland (council area) |
