He was killed by partisans on 22 March 1943 near Khatyn village, which caused a notorious mass killing of inhabitants of Khatyn.[3][4] References{{Commons category|Hans Woellke}}1. ^Hans Woellke. trackfield.brinkster.net {{Footer Olympic Champions Shot Put Men}}{{Footer British NC Shot Put Men}}{{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Woellke, Hans}}{{Germany-athletics-Olympic-medalist-stub}}2. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/wo/hans-woellke-1.html |title=Hans Woellke |accessdate=22 March 2013|work=Sports Reference}} 3. ^Genocide Policy, khatyn.by 4. ^{{cite web |url=https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/friv/lists.cgi?id=65 |title=Olympians Who Were Killed or Missing in Action or Died as a Result of War |accessdate=24 July 2018 |work=Sports Reference}} 13 : 1911 births|1943 deaths|People from Biskupiec|People from East Prussia|German male shot putters|Olympic gold medalists for Germany|Athletes (track and field) at the 1936 Summer Olympics|Olympic athletes of Germany|German military personnel killed in World War II|Sportspeople from Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship|European Athletics Championships medalists|Medalists at the 1936 Summer Olympics|Olympic gold medalists in athletics (track and field) |
