They are known generally as tarweeds, although some tarweeds belong to other genera, such as Madia and Deinandra. Furthermore, Hemizonia is currently being revised; some species may be segregated into new genera. RangeThe Hemizonia tarweeds are native to southwestern North America, especially California.
